Why we started Avki
Avki began with a simple bedtime problem: screens were winning, and none of the "screen-free" alternatives felt made for our children โ just generic content dressed up as something personal. We wanted stories that felt like they were written by someone who actually knew our kids: their names, their fears, their favourite dinosaur, the language their grandmother sings to them in.
So we built Wonderly โ a small, focused product with one job: turn the details that make your child who they are into a story only they could star in. Not a content firehose, not another feed, just one good story at a time.
Where the name "Avki" comes from
Avki isn't a made-up brand word. It's two names, stitched together โ Avanya and Kiaan, the firstborn children of our two founders. Two mothers, two best friends, just two little ones who, without knowing it, gave this company its name and its reason for being.
Avki began the way most of the best things do โ around a kitchen table, watching our own kids grow, and asking each other the questions every parent asks: Are we doing enough? Are we giving them something real, or just something easy? We didn't want to build another generic app to hand our children when we were tired. We wanted to build something intentional โ something that added real value to Avanya's and Kiaan's growth the way a grandmother's story, a lullaby in the right language, or a bedtime ritual passed down for generations does.
So we named the company after them โ not as a tribute, but as a promise. Avanya and Kiaan are the reason Wonderly exists, and they remain the quiet standard everything we build is measured against.
Meet the founders
Avki was started by two mothers and best friends who kept asking each other the same question โ and decided to build the answer together.

What we believe
Children first, always
Every decision โ product, business, technical โ is filtered through "is this good for the child listening?" first.
Every family, represented
Culture, language, and heritage aren't add-ons. They're part of the core story engine from day one.
AI in service of craft
AI helps us personalise at scale. A dedicated firewall around the app and every story keeps content closely monitored and safe.
Where we're headed
Wonderly's audio stories are the beginning. Next comes the Wonderly device โ a screen-free travel companion built for little hands โ and a growing library shaped by the families who join us early. If that sounds like something you want to help build (or just be part of from day one), we'd love to hear from you.
