A child born in Abu Dhabi to Filipino, Indian, Nigerian, Lebanese, or Pakistani parents may never have set foot in the town their grandparents call home. They've never smelled the rain on that particular soil, never celebrated a festival there in person, never heard their family's dialect spoken on its own streets. Their "home country" is a story told to them — not a place they've lived. And yet the UAE, however loved, may not fully feel like home country either. They live suspended between two belongings, fluent in neither.
This isn't a small, rare experience. It's the quiet reality for an entire generation of third-culture children — in the Gulf, and in expat and diaspora communities everywhere. We built Wonderly because we believe every child deserves to feel rooted in something — even when geography can't give them that.
So Wonderly writes it back into their bedtime, their car rides, their everyday: the language their grandmother speaks, the folk tale from a village they've never visited, the food, the festival, the proverb, the name and its meaning. Not as a lesson.
